Despite his party's vocal opposition to private landlords, Ali is linked to two buy to let properties in Leeds. Ali set up MA Holdings, a company that owns and manages the rental properties, in December 2021.
The two properties were purchased in June 2022 and March 2025, respectively. However, this was done before the Green Party's policy shift in October 2025, which committed to phasing out private landlordism.
